In this extract of our full interview, Eoin Fairgrieve and John Bailey discuss buying tackle and Eoin's Tweedstart initiative.

Eoin is a fully qualified casting member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (A.A.P.G.A.I). and a member of the Scottish Speycasting Team which won the 2006 EWM World Championships. An avid allround sportsman, at the age of 24, Eoin became one of the youngest ever instructors to qualify in both the A.A.P.G.A.I trout and salmon disciplines. 

Before becoming a full time fly casting instructor in 2001, he was the head ghillie for 14 years on the famous Makerstoun beat of the River Tweed.  Eoin has recently been appointed Scotland's first Angling Development Officer and is responsible for introducing all ages and social backgrounds in to fly fishing through his Tweedstart program on the River Tweed system. As well as running Tweedstart days at the Loop Tackle Design Centre of Excellence, Eoin works in close conjunction with schools in the Scottish Borders to present the ‘Tweedstart’ roadshow to children in a classroom environment.
