Chalkstream news and availability - 30 June to 15 July

It is no surprise that the office has been inundated with calls this past week enquiring about the state of the rivers.
However, the deluges during June barely registered on the spring-fed chalkstreams, where the water has just risen a few inches & slightly discoloured on the few days following the storms.
To put this into some sort of statistical perspective, the difference between the volume of water between the highest & lowest water marks on a chalkstream is a factor of 2 at most, whereas on spate rivers like the Wye or Don we are talking about a factor of 100-200.
Despite this relative good news for the chalkstreams, it still wasn't much fun for the fishermen who braved the elements! However, the great news is that the rivers are now in perfect shape for the remainder of the season.
