From Hardy and Greys

Hardy and Greys is set to take the reel market by storm with a new product being unveiled to the American market at the Fly Fishing Retailer show in September.

Visitors to the English company’s stand in Denver will be the first in the US to see ‘The Demon’ - its first reel designed with non-metal cartridge spools.

Determined to maintain its reputation for quality, Hardy and Greys has designed and produced the inexpensive spool which combines with an aluminium reel frame.

John Wolstenholme, Marketing Manager (Game) is confident the Demon will take over from the Sirrus as the affordable Hardy ‘must have’.

“Hardy has never had a reel in its range which incorporates inexpensive non metal cartridge spools and we have been working for some time to fill this gap. We are confident that the Demon is the one,” he said.

Hardy has also produced a Demon rod range to accompany the reel and aims to have them ready for sale in January 2008.

Demon Rods
As with all Hardy products, these are designed from the ground up. Utilising recent developments in both material and design technology, the Demon sets a new standard in its price category. From the custom designed reel fitting, through to the 40-tonne carbon blank every detail has been designed, developed and, when required, re-designed to arrive at the finished article.
Demon rods give Hardy performance, durability and build quality at an affordable price.

Demon Reel
Manufactured in 6061 Barstock aluminium with a GT4 Grivory composite spool, the Demon reel benefits from a Rulon multi-disc braking system with four pads. Its stunning looks match its undoubted practicality. Supplied in a custom reel case with two additional spare spools, Demon brings new levels of Performance to a reel that won’t break the bank and is the perfect partner to the Demon rod range.

Angel 2 Reel
The Angel reel has been a worldwide winner from the moment it was introduced to market and has landed thousands of fish – so why change it? In short to make it better than ever! Increasing the porting in the frame has reduced the weight to better match modern lightweight rods; redesigning the clutch housing has allowed a tool-less left /right conversion that now takes seconds instead of minutes, and a new concealed clicker system makes an already trusted and dependable system almost foolproof.

Swift MkII Fly Reel
Improving on the Swift MkI reel was always going to be a challenge, but we needed a reel to match the improvements made to the Swift MkII Rod. Made out of Barstock aluminium and with a barrel polished finish, the MkII does just that.
Other features such as the great drag system and the tool-less right to left conversion make this an ideal reel for anyone who wants a high performance reel which looks great.
