Malbaie River Outfitters is one of the premier Atlantic Salmon lodges on Quebec's Gaspe peninsula with access to water on eight different salmon rivers. Perhaps one of the greatest attractions is the flexibility for clients to have the ability to fly fish some of the following renowned rivers; Dartmouth, Grande, Malbaie, Pabos, St Jean and York River. These vary in their character and the nature of the salmon runs, some offering the best chances early season whilst others renowned for big fish willing to take bombers.

The season runs from June to September with the bigger fresh fish arriving in June. As the water warms up in July and so the dry fly becomes an exciting way to fish for large fish in the crystal clear water. By august many of the holding pools will have large numbers of fish in them and there is the opportunity of enjoying some fabulous fishing. With an extensive range of rivers, trips can be tailored to suit the needs of the angler and the first class guides will make the fishing experience at Malbaie all the more memorable. There are no fixed fishing hours or timetables so days can be adjusted to suit the prevailing conditions and maximize time on the water deemed to offer the best chance of success. The fishing is normally by wading but earlier in the year when water levels are higher on some of the bigger rivers, canoes may be used to access some of the beats. The Gaspe is famous for its big fish and some of these rivers regularly catch fish over 30lbs, even up to 40lbs. The chance of being able to sight cast to fish this size using dry flies is unique to this part of the world.

The traditional lodge was built in the 1930s and guests have the option to stay there or in the newly constructed chalet. It can accommodate up to 12 guests and the bedrooms are well appointed, some with traditional fireplaces. The large sitting room and screened porch provide the ideal venue to relax after a day on the river and share the days events with the other guest. Whilst lunch is taken on the river, breakfast and dinner are enjoyed in the lodge and the menu reflects the high quality of the operation that Malbaie river outfitters run.
