We have a nice combination of reports this month from Los Roques in Venezuela and Jurassic Lake in Argentina. Links to two articles on the above as published in Tatler and in the Irish Country Life. Lastly but as importantly some last minute slots and interesting opportunities at some of our locations for this coming summer and autumn.
Everybody is likley to have a different set of expectations of what makes a fun couples holidays. As often as not the word fishing and holiday are in many peoples perspective widely divergent! On a recent wives and husbands trip to Los Roques, including 'gooseberry' David Profumo who was writing an article for Tatler, one of the wives summed up the problem:
"It can be perceived as difficult to co-exist happily on a fishing trip when one party does not fish. Not everyone is enthralled and fascinated by types of fish, khaki outfits, rods and flies, so selecting a holiday destination to satisfy both fishing and non fishing parties can be tricky. At Los Roques we found the perfect place to happily co-exist with fishing husbands as well as an escape from the winter".

Jurassic Lake Report -April 08
It is not often that 'new' fisheries are discovered in todays ultra visible world when even the most tentative of explorers can see pretty much every part of the planet with the help of Google World. When J Lake first hit peoples radars, after the initial shock at catching so may enormous Rainbows, including mine, the next question was whether it would survive the ravages of a seasons worth of anglers.
With absolute confidence I can say that unbelievable as it may seem the fish this year seemed to have got bigger as well as being equally numerous. Ridiculous as it may seem we tallied our catch up at the end of the 3 day trip in tons! A perfect combination to our Sea Trout week at Las Buitreras.
Realising that not everyone can take an extra 3 days out to go to J Lake on top of a week Sea Trout Fishing there are now a limited number of combination weeks available for 2009 with 3 days at Las Buitreras Sea Trout fishing, a travel day in between and 3 days at J Lake. Gaula - Norwegian Fly-Fishers Club stretch
8-15 June
There are 2 spaces left on for anyone who is willing to pit their chances, with your truly, against some of Norways finest and hopefully largest spring run salmon on the Gaula next month. I will be there filming and fishing so please come and assist. Please note that with the bag nets along the coast have been forbidden until 7 July and in the fjord until 20 June this is going to allow huge numbers of additional fish to enter the rivers over this period. Great news for Norwegian fishing and great news for me!!
