A Timely Flood
Notwithstanding the fact that there has been an excellent run of fish coming into the Blackwater this spring, the fishing has been rather quiet as we have had low water levels for some considerable time. Today this has all changed.
There was heavy rain in the upper catchment all day yesterday from 08.00. We also had over half an inch of rain fell here in Ballyduff. The river was on 0.26m on the gauge yesterday. At 06.00 this morning it was 0.38m & by 11.00 it was 0.78m .

This is just what is required to get the larger May fish and the grilse running the river, so we are expecting great things once the flood starts to fine off. I am hearing reports from Northern Ireland all the way down to the Lee in Cork that there are plenty of fresh fish ready and moving into the rivers on the fresh water.

Availability of accommodation & fishing is OK for the next few weeks at the moment.

Argentina here we come.
We have secured dates with Loop Adventures for a hosted trip to Argentina from March 3 - 15.
Glenda and I will be accompanying 8 rods on this trip of a lifetime. 3 days at Jurassic Lake for huge wild rainbows followed by a week for giant seatrout on the Rio Gallegos.
There are only 5 places left already, so if you're interested contact us immediately.

Summer Fishcamp
If you'd like your teenager to have a great introduction to salmon & trout fishing, why not send them to Ireland's first Fishcamp - hosted by Glenda - this summer.
Contact Glenda for more details.

Best Regards & Tight Lines!
