Norway by delaying the netting season for at least two weeks has allowed a great many large early running salmon to return to their native rivers. River catches have been excellent with we have heard from good sources that over 1,500 salmon larger than 20lb have been caught. (Many also having been released again).

This is a clear indication to everybody (worldwide) that the first major step to restoring the atlantic salmon back to its historic abundance is to stop interceptory netting operations in the sea. Congratulations Norway for the great start. We hope this is not just the start of great things in the short term but marks the beginning of the end of netting at sea for the whole season.
