Arkansas fly-fishers should 'take precautions'
publication date: Jul 10, 2007
Fly-fishers considering making a fly-fishing trip in Arkansas, US, are being encouraged to take every precaution to ensure their excursion runs as smoothly as possible.
Writing in the Baxter Bulletin, Cotter fly-fishing guide John Berry maintains that anglers should always practice water safety and check conditions before leaving home.
With a number of waterways having risen dramatically after recent rainfall patterns, Mr Barry said that marginal wading conditions would be offered at Bullshoals.
However, he urged anglers to take care in order to counter water levels rising rapidly.
Otherwise, fly-fishing conditions in the area are deemed to be excellent by Mr Berry.
Water temperatures in the Norfolk region are considered to be almost perfect for fly-fishing, while conditions at the White River were also believed to be good.
Those people hoping to make an excursion to the State Park were advised to fish as early as possible to beat the crowds and to take advantage of the plethora of rainbow and brown trout in waterways in the vicinity.
