One UK fly-fisher has described how his passion for the sport enables him to get away from the hustle and bustle of his hectic lifestyle.

Philip Dean, 36, from Melkridge in Northumbria, a president of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) and secretary of the Haltwhistle and District Angling Association, says that indulging in the sport allows him to find an altogether more calm different mental state.

"You have to focus intently when fly fishing, watching for any movement on the water. You block out everything else, and that is what I love about it," he told the Hexham Courant.

"You have to step back from everything else, from the JCI, and from business. For me it is about clearing your mind, losing yourself."
Mr Dean said that his passion for all things water-based started as a child growing up.

"I love fishing. It has been one of the obsessions of my life since I was a five-year-old kid," he told the paper, adding that he has "always been interested in what lies under the water, from rock pools to rivers".
