The first FIPS-Mouche World Youth Fly Fishing Championships to be held in the US is getting ready to roll early next month.

Taking place between August 4th and 10th in Pennsylvania's state college, the sixth annual championships will be bringing some of the very best young fly-fishers from around the world together to battle it out.

The rules of the competition mean that competitors will be awarded 100 points for trout measuring over eight inches, plus 20 points for each centimetre.

According to trout fishing guide and team coach, John Wilson, the US team is well set to fare well in the championships, with a second US team also being expected to participate.

Co-chairman of the event, John Ford, told CentreDaily.com: "Everything is coming together. All of our controllers and sector judges are in place. We have a great group of volunteers lined up."

Mr Ford also said that he was expecting a large turnout from locals to cheer on the US team.
