Simon Young has a look at a new book that arrived in the post recently titled Angling with the Fly: Flies and Anglers of Derbyshire and Staffordshire by J N Watson.

It covers the flies and anglers of the midlands and offers a fascinating insight into this particular area and its history in the annals of UK fly fishing. If you're a black country fisherman or just a lover of well researched material and great photography (by Terry Griffiths) then this is worth a look.

Today we begin a new series of product reviews working our way over the next few months through the "Essential Skills with Oliver Edwards" library of DVDs. By taking a look at each individual disc in turn we hope you will better be able to decide whether you wish to purchase the whole collection or perhaps just those that relate to the style of fishing you wish to learn or study more.

A bonus is that we have received some very nice self-contained clips from each of the DVD's that are worth watching in their own right for the information they contain. There are two clips inside...
