Casting for Recovery UK & Ireland, the unique outdoor-based programme specifically designed for women who have, or have had, breast cancer, was delighted to be the beneficiary of funds well in excess of £15,000 thanks to London-based recruitment company Prima Principia’s recent annual charity fishing day at Dever Springs in Hampshire.
The Tyne Rivers Trust has announced the appointment of one the UK’s most prominent scientific authorities on river behaviour in a newly-created position of Trust Director. Malcolm Newson, currently Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne is to join The Trust in August.
This years IGFA annual world record achievement awards will also be further highlighted by lifetime achievement awards for Captain Jay Wright Jr. and friend of Fish & Fly, Jean-Francois Helias.
This year's WTT on-line auction with 234 lots is more packed with alluring opportunities than ever before, all generously donated by the Trust's many supporters.
Fishing lots include a total of 244 days fishing and five full season tickets on a stunningly wide range of waters. Some of the choicest lots offer not only a rod on exclusive beats but include guidance and occasionally tuition by some of the biggest names in fishing. In dedicated lots, top instructors also volunteer tuition for everyone from beginners to veterans wanting to hone their skills.

Their aim is simple - "to ensure healthy populations of bonefish, permit and tarpon for the future."
Combining therapy and support for breast cancer patients with the gentle art of fly fishing, Casting for Recovery which originated in the USA in 1996, has now arrived in the UK & Ireland thanks to the England Ladies Flyfishing Association.
