Hi All,

I've just completed my first year of fly fishing with trips to North Carolina, West Virginia, and Indiana. My skills are far off the mark but I am learning.

I going on vacation to the lower Florida Keys and this is a great opportunity to try flats fishing. I have purchased a Orvis 8 wt Clearwater outfit and I am practicing double haul casts in 30 F weather. I have gone from 35 feet to 60 feet in a week. I am definitely much better caster than I was all year long. I still have too many times when the tip is hitting the line. So, I am still adjusting. I learned a good saying recently: Practice until you can't do it wrong. Casting 60+ feet without tangles is my goal. Let me know if you have technique suggestions.

Any input on fishing from kayak in lower keys would be great.

Thanks,
hojodo
