Hi everyone on the forum.

My name is Bill and I have decided to take up fly fishing three months short of my 78th birthday.

I have been a coarse fisherman since the age of ten and for the past 40 years have fished exclusively for carp.

Feeling like a complete change, I have purchased a fly rod and reel. Last week I had a casting lesson that lasted two hours and then spent another two hours actually fishing (without success). I thoroughly enjoyed it but boy, did I suffer the following day. I was so stiff I could hardly move.

As soon as the snow has gone I will be trying my luck again. I intend going to Mere Beck fly fishery near Southport.

Good luck to you all.
