Last week (9th May to 15th May 2011) was a wonderful week to be fishing the Aberdeenshire Dee. Over 315 salmon were reported on the website - the best week of the year on Dee so far! (probably anywhere in world - not just Scotland!).

The week started with a much needed rise of water to 3ft which triggered a fantastic run of fish with many straight from the sea. As the water dropped off the fish settled and fishing was superb. The angling writer Bill Currie, Andrew Dennis and Tristan Sillars fishing Aboyne Water enjoyed their best week for many years with 18 caught and released (up to 16lbs). The quality of the fish was first class too.

Andrew kindly sent me these images.
