    Against All Odds

This is a dedicated thread for discussing article: Against All Odds

A video of an epic battle to land a 30lb Atlantic Salmon that decided to go down the rapids - angler in tow - on Sweden's Byske River.

    What would you have done?

    Re: Against All Odds

The salmon in this video was killed which is of course remains the right of any angler subject to the local regulations and correct licence being held.

This was the statement made on their YouTube comments;-

"Hi, thanx for watching and commenting. Looking closer at the salmon's eyes and mouth, it is obvious that it has been killed. This is also stated on the web site. I welcome reactions to this decision. In June 2012 more than 100 large salmon (20 lbs+) were caught and killed by "sport fishermen" on The Byske River. Some anglers keep everything within their bag limit. Most beeks limit their kill. A few fellows play 100% C&R."

What are your thoughts on kill vs catch and release in general? Is there a solution that fits all locations and circumstances?

I thought that he was running the serious risk of a heart attack.
After such an epic battle that salmon deserved to be released.
