To the total amazement of fishers worldwide, Norway’s salmon anglers continue to pursue their infamous and destructive catch & keep attitudes - despite dwindling salmon populations.

Yet, there are Norwegian salmon heroes out there. Take Vegard Heggem owner of the Aunan Estate, Orkla River. This year Vegard’s anglers have returned over 62% of all the salmon they have caught – and the fly rods alone have returned over 80%. The rest of the Orkla river’s average catch & release rate, so far this year, is only 10%. So 62% from one beat is outstanding, and much credit must go to Vegard and the caring fishermen he caters for.

Congratulations to a Norwegian Salmon Hero.
