    Salmon Heroes of Norway

Despite dwindling populations of salmon on many rivers in Norway less than 14% of all salmon caught in Norway by rod-anglers were returned alive to spawn in 2010. This shocking recklessness is really sad to witness, but nevertheless, there are a growing number of angling heroes in Norway.

Arne Hansen is a Norwegian fishing hero. Here he is returning alive a fly-caught 21.4kg (47lb) Atlantic salmon back into the Orkla River.

    Thanks Arne!

Note: The Orkla has an increasingly good record of catch & release - now up to 32% of those caught. Let's hope improvement continues in 2011.
