Tay opening ceremony at Kenmore 15th January 2010
Despite rumours to the contrary, the annual Tay opening ceremony at Kenmore is going ahead usual on 15th January 2010.
At the Kenmore 2009 closing event £14,000 was raised for Angling For Youth Development. We are hoping to raise further money at the Kenmore opening on 15th January 2010.
As you know the Kenmore opening is the traditional opening celebration of the River Tay having been running for well over 60 years, this year there is a rumour circulating that the Kenmore opening isn't happening and that the "official opening" oganised by Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board at Dunkeld is the only opening event occurring.
Just to put everyone at ease, the opening is still going on at Kenmore and we need the support for it to be as strong as ever. By supporting and advertising the event not only are we upholding the tradition and camerarderie generated over the last 60 to 70 years but we are also raising money for a number of good causes including AFYD.
I hope as many of you can come to Kenmore as possible to find out more about the event and also about the new programmes and projects that AFYD are launching in 2010.
