Lighter tackle for trout lake fisheries? (T & S May 2012)
On the basis of this Trout and Salmon article, where it is suggested that the trout angler should consider swapping their 9 ft 8/9# weight for a 9ft 5# or even a 4# line rating, I am considering purchasing a Scierra HM+ 9ft 5# rod for my lake use. I know I will not be stripping large weighted lures so hope the thinking behind improved presentation will bring greater returns!
Anybody have any thoughts on this?

I have been using a 9' 5# diamond back rod for years now for still water work, I have also noticed at a number of fisheries I fish the owners are now stocking with 2-3lb in the main instead of pellet feed double figure fish.
