How to recognise a good fishing height on the North Tyne

Here is the North Tyne at 4in (10cm) on the Gauge: (a little low for good salmon fishing)

Here is the North Tyne at 1ft 2in (35 cm) on the Gauge: Good height for the fly!

North Tyne at 2ft 6in. This is fishable high water, with sinking tip or fly line and perhaps with more people spinning.

A slowly falling river height and a rising barometer is the best!
