Stop Press Yokanga
The official Yokanga fishing website, Fly Fish Yokanga has supplied the following early, pre fax report on 'Russia's Trophy River':
'After 2 full days and fishing on the first evening there is a healthy total of 45 fish to 11 rods.
•2 x Fish 30lbs+
•16 x Fish 20lbs - 30lbs
•26 x Fish 10lbs - 20lbs
All strong and aggressive with deep bodies and a tenacious fight.
Water Level: -13cm dropped to -16cm and clear
Water Temp: 12ºc
Air Temp: Between 6ºc and nearly 20ºc
The fish are tending to be picked up in running pods and are super aggressive. If a fly is in front of them they will come for it. The lower beats are still not seeing holding fish but they are beginning to stack up higher up and therefore it's expected that there will be fish beginning to hold lower down within the week. One very large fish has been lost and more seen. 'Markku' & 'Carl' both landed fish of 32lbs.
In all an early spring with higher than average temperatures and plenty of fish already running the system. Leaves beginning to unfurl on the trees and warmer water. A pleasing first week of the season.
