Harpa reports (via Arni Baldursson) that:
Fishing on the East Rangá river usually starts around July 4th. This year salmon had already arrived by early June and even though the river is not yet officially open. We are having the best start EVER!
Twenty-five salmon have been caught on 2 rods in East Rangá over the last few days. But we will open with 18 rods at the end of the month.
West Ranga opens on Sunday and there is plenty of salmon in the river already. The rivers in South Iceland usually starts later in the season or early July so this might be the best opening in both rivers from beguinning.
'July is when we catch the big ones and Iceland is SO beautiful in July.'
