    Iceland's salmon rivers: rain required!

That Jetstream has been playing tricks in Iceland as well. Although there the problem is increasingly too little rain which, like last year, is starting to affect the runs of salmon into the rivers. But the season is still young and there's some good sport about.
Here's the latest from Arni Baldursson:
'Received a telephone call from Stefan Kristjánsson , he was fishing beat 1 and 2 in Stora Laxa , fish are running , Stefan hooked 18 Salmon this afternoon and landed 8 , water level at Stora at perfection. Some fish taken on beat 3 and 4 , a lott less. Fishing middle north is slow at the moment , water getting very low and looks like there are very few fish coming up the rivers at the moment.'

Re: Iceland's salmon rivers: rain required!

Well there has been a good hosing a week or so ago. Thank the fishing gods - I am heading out 1st week of September.
Arni reports rivers in North and West are at near perfect heights. Can anyone substantiate that? Anglin.IS website gives weekly catch stats for all rivers so one can see how things have been fishing.
