The Countryside Alliance Foundation’s Fishing for Schools programme, in association with the Calder and Colne Rivers Trust, held a successful course on the 23rd and 24th of May with Honley High School and introduced pupils to the sport of fly fishing. The South Coast Sea Trout Action Plan has been developed by the Environment Agency, Wild Trout Trust and Atlantic Salmon Trust with the common goal of improving sea trout stocks on the south coast of England. The plan was launched at a meeting of stakeholders and interested parties recently in Arundel, West Sussex. Read More
The Cumberland Building Society has provided Eden Rivers Trust with another £7,000 a year for two years towards their education work. The money will help to fund “Rivers Days” which involve taking children to their local river to learn about its importance and wildlife. Read More
NASF’s latest depiction of the world of the Atlantic salmon shows the safe areas for salmon where the fish are protected by agreements with commercial fishermen. Unfortunately, there are also red spots on the map. These show the areas where mixed-stock fisheries continue to endanger wild salmon. Read More
