Sage building fly-fishing lodge in Montana

Sage Fly Fishing, the well-known manufacturer of fly rods based in Bainbridge Island, Washington, is constructing, with partners, a fly-fishing lodge in Emigrant.

On its 1,200 acres, the Sage Lodge will have 34 guest rooms, four cabins of four rooms each, a restaurant, event center and spa, Tag Kleiner, Sage’s vice president of marketing, said Wednesday.

Opening is slated for sometime in the summer of 2018. June is the goal, but the ultimate opening date will depend on construction deadlines, Kleiner said.

Sage is very interested in being a good neighbor.

“We are very focused on coming into the community as investors, not harvesters,” he said.

The property is not just about fishing, he said.

“We’ll lead with fly-fishing — that’s the heart and soul of Sage, but it’s more about the Montana outdoor experience,” along with easy access to Yellowstone National Park, Kleiner added…
