Keep Florida Fishing Thanks Governor Rick Scott, Senate President Joe Negron for Commitment to Everglades Restoration
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Keep Florida Fishing® praises Florida Governor Rick Scott and Senate President Joe Negron for their commitment to Everglades restoration through their budget recommendations and legislation.
“Recreational fishing is important to Florida’s economy, supporting more than 128,000 jobs and generating $9.6 billion in economic activity. At more than three million strong, Florida anglers also are the financial force behind the state’s fisheries conservation efforts, providing $53.3 million through fishing-license fees and excise taxes on fishing equipment and motorboat fuel,” said Gary Jennings, Keep Florida Fishing Director.
“Clean waters are imperative to the continued success of our industry. Keep Florida Fishing looks forward to working with the Governor and legislative leaders to find comprehensive solutions that will expedite the Everglades restoration process in the weeks and months ahead, so Florida will remain the ‘Fishing Capital of the World,’” said Kellie Ralston, ASA’s Florida Fishery Policy Director.
Keep Florida Fishing® is an advocacy arm of the American Sportfishing Association with the goal of ensuring Florida anglers have clean waters, abundant fisheries and access to both.
