Accommodation will be in the much loved A-frame chalets and dinner will be in the familiar and comfortable beachfront restaurant, next to the pool. The fishing will be for a maximum of 10 rods until December 1st 2012, after which a maximum of 12 rods will be permitted to fish until the end of the season. The talented guide team will remain with the usual familiar faces and fishing guests will have the same incredible fishing experience as in past seasons. Also to be reintroduced during this season will be the option to do a day or two of blue water fly fishing. This was very popular when available some years ago and took advantage of the excellent opportunities for sailfish, tuna, wahoo and other species available to target on fly outside the reef. We are looking forward to some great stories from our fishing guests who try it this coming season.
We are delighted to confirm that Alphonse Island will once again be suitable for non-fishers accompanying fishing family and friends with the pool and restaurant facilities remaining the same as before. The new management, who run a first-class resort on nearby Desroches Island, intend to improve non-fishing services and general standards on the island in the coming season.
“The attainment of the management contract of Alphonse Island prior to the exciting start of the 2012-2013 fly fishing season enables new and established (Alphonse) guests to experience the enhanced service and improved conveniences that visitors to Desroches Island currently enjoy,” enthuses Keith Rose-Innes, Resident Fishing Expert at Desroches Island.
If the thought of planned construction work on Alphonse and uncertainty over accommodation put you off, then this is great news. Book quickly as this will be popular news.
