The River Itchen

Wild Trout Trust – 2017 Auction

The Wild Trout Trust (WTT) auction will take place on eBay and by post 3-12 March 2017.

With over 300 lots the auction is a tremendous way to book your fishing trips for the year – a private beat on a top class chalk stream, a river close to home or a holiday abroad.

A link to the lots on eBay is available from the WTT website from 3 March at www.wildtrout.org

All tastes and budgets are catered for with lots from £20 to £9,000. As you would expect, there is a wide range of trout (and sea trout) fishing but with plenty of other species too, from char and carp to pike and pollock.

There is some great fishing on offer this year!

The holidays overseas range from salmon fishing in Iceland to bone fishing in the Bahamas. There are fishing days that would fit within a family holiday to Scotland, the Cote D’Azur, Normandy, Norway – or Zimbabwe! There is also a trip to the Spanish Pyrenees that would be a perfect for a non-fishing partner to enjoy too!

The auction also includes art, signed books, tackle and flies. A Japanese ‘gyotaku’ print of a rainbow trout (made by taking an imprint of the fish in ink and then hand-colouring) is one of the ‘collectable’ items, along with a beautiful metal panel of a trout by Sam MacDonald. The tackle includes rods made by Sandy Nelson, Luke Bannister and Rawson and Perrin as well as a complete Sage outfit for French nymphing.

A beautiful piece of Gyotaku art.

The money raised in the auction is used to support the work of the Wild Trout Trust, enabling them to deliver practical projects and advice to improve the habitat in rivers. They have low overheads, a small staff and an ever growing group of volunteers, so the money raised in the auction makes a real and direct difference to our rivers.
