Alphonse Weekly Fishing Report – 7

The incredible weather has continued with light south-easterly winds and flat calm seas.

The Milkfish have been here since October, although they have been considerably later in their offshore feeding due to the non-existent north-westerly winds.

But last week not only did the ‘milkies’ start to turn up on the western edge of St François but there were also some incredible achievements during the week that will not be forgotten by the anglers in years to come.

Most notably Tim Aldiss caught the third largest GT ever reordered on Alphonse, a fish measuring 132cm and weighing approximately 110lb.  To make things even more memorable the fish ate a fast-stripped  NYAP in an explosive manner!

The offshore action was described as ‘off the charts’ with five sailfish landed in three outings. Russell Crafter landed three Sailfish in a day and Joern Heiner and Ursula Mazura landed two really big Sailfish after long fights. Joern also went on to catch his first Wahoo on fly – which was of significant size!

It has been another super week at Alphonse!
